Lauren Bulbin is currently leading visual direction at POLITICO, where she focuses on integrating visual storytelling into daily breaking news and enterprise with photography, illustration, video, and graphics. She previously served as a Photo Assignment Editor at The Washington Post, where she led visual production for high-volume editorial and feature projects, overseeing visual storytelling from concept through publication, and collaborating across newsroom teams to deliver compelling visual content for readers.

Before joining The Washington Post, Bulbin was at Fast Company, focusing on news production, illustrative visuals, and photography for the website and magazine. Early in her career, she worked as a freelance producer and photographer, producing news media and multimedia campaigns for editorial and commercial clients.

Bulbin is a graduate of the Maryland Institute College of Art, where she earned a BFA in Photography and Graphic Design, summa cum laude. Her work has been recognized with numerous industry honors, including the Angus McDougall Award for Photo Editing Excellence, the Lowell Thomas Award, and awards from the Society of News Design, the Society of Publication Design, the American Society of Magazine Editors, and the National Magazine Awards for Digital Media.
